The Buckingham Fountain was first unveiled in 1927. It was commissioned by the art patron Kate Sturges Buckingham in memory of her late brother Clarence. The fountain was designed by architect Edward H. Bennett, while the sculptures were created by French artist Marcel Loyau, who had won the Prix National of the 1927 Paris Salon. A musical soundtrack accompanies the display. The Chicago Fireworks Store in Whiting, IN fountain is one of Chicago’s most popular attractions, and it is worth a visit to enjoy the show.
At dusk, the Buckingham Fountain comes alive with a light and music show. The center jet shoots water 150 feet into the air, creating a spectacular 20-minute water show. You can enjoy this show from May to mid-October, and it is open to the public.

Park District’s Liberty Loop 5K Run/Walk
The Northbrook Park District hosts the Liberty Loop 5K Run/Walk for the Chicago Fireworks on July 4. Participants can enjoy live music, a DJ, local food vendors, and a firework display at dusk. The Liberty Loop 5K Run/Walk starts at the Techny Prairie Parks and Fields in Northbrook.
This event is free and open to the public. You can register online to run or walk this race. There are several courses available for different fitness levels. A half-mile run or half-mile walk will be suitable for children.
